There was a bit of controversy following Oregon’s NCAA Tournament win over Duke in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night.
Ducks guard Dillon Brooks nailed a deep 3-point shot in the final seconds with his team’s victory already clinched, and that apparently didn’t sit well with Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Brooks said Coach K told him after the game that he’s “too good of a player to be showing out at the end.”
Coach K denied making those comments in his postgame press conference, but he apologized for the situation in a statement Saturday.

It seems Brooks was right, because if Coach K didn’t make those critical comments to him, the legendary coach wouldn’t have needed to apologize.
Brooks did nothing wrong. The shot clock was winding down, and instead of taking a violation he just shot a long distance 3-pointer that had a pretty slim chance of going in.
Krzyzewski also said in the statement he hopes he didn’t create a distraction for Oregon, yet his statement was released about two hours before Oregon’s Elite Eight matchup with Oklahoma on Saturday night.
