The San Antonio Spurs play a lot like the 1985-86 Boston Celtics — the greatest team in NBA history. San Antonio’s excellent ball movement, unselfish attitude and extraordinary talent have made it a very special team.
The Spurs beat the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night to improve their home record to 38-0, the best home start in league history. The first-place Golden State Warriors are 36-0 at home. Each team plays 41 home games.

The Spurs, and the Warriors for that matter, can challenge the NBA record for the best home record of all time (including the playoffs) which belongs to the 1985-86 Celtics. That team set the record after going 40-1 at the old Boston Garden during the regular season and then 10-0 on its way to a 16th championship.
The real challenge to Boston’s record might come in the Western Conference final, when the Warriors and Spurs are expected to meet in what would be one of the most anticipated playoff series — at least of the non-NBA Finals variety — in a long time.
