Andrew Luck Expects To Make Very Nerdy Purchase After Signing New Contract

Andrew Luck seems like a simple guy.

He’s a Stanford product, a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback and likely will sign the richest contract in NFL history, yet the 26-year-old isn’t letting his fame or his impending fortune go to his head. He’s still a nerd through and through, as evidenced by the first big purchase he expects to make after inking a new deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

“Maybe a robot ping-pong thing that hits balls back at you,” Luck told The Ringer’s Kevin Clark last week when asked about the nerdiest thing he’s going to buy. “My buddy has one and swears by it.”

Luck can spring for a whole army of ping-pong robots if he’d like, as many expect his next contract to surpass the five-year, $110 million deal that quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed with the Green Bay Packers before the 2013 season. The more surprising issue is that he’s having such a hard time finding a ping-pong partner.

“There’s some good ping-pong players,” Luck said. “But sometimes no one wants to hang out.”

With a paddle-wielding robot, that problem will be solved. Seems simple enough.
