Jackie Bradley Jr. Rewriting Red Sox History With MLB-Best Hitting Streak

Jackie Bradley Jr. is cementing himself among some elite company.

Bradley enters the Boston Red Sox’s series opener against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night at Fenway Park riding a Major League Baseball-best 27-game hitting streak. It’s one of only nine hitting streaks in Red Sox history of at least 27 games.

The other hitting streaks of at least 27 games in Red Sox history are as follows:

Dom DiMaggio (1949), 34
Nomar Garciaparra (1997), 30
Tris Speaker (1912), 30
Johnny Damon (2005), 29
Wade Boggs (1985), 28
Manny Ramirez (2006), 27
Dom DiMaggio (1951), 27
David Ortiz (2012-13), 27
Jackie Bradley Jr. (2016), 27

Since Bradley’s hitting streak began April 24, the 26-year-old outfielder leads the majors in average (.408), slugging percentage (.786), OPS (1.272), RBIs (29), and triples (tied, 3). He also leads the American League in on-base percentage (.487) in that span.

Bradley obviously has a ways to go before matching Joe DiMaggio’s MLB-record 56-game hitting streak, but there’s no denying that what he’s doing is truly special. All eyes should remain on JBJ.
