Copa America Messes Up Again, Plays Pitbull Song Over Chile’s Anthem

You know how the saying goes: Another day, another national anthem mishap at a Copa America game. Or something like that.

At Sunday’s Copa America match between Uruguay and Mexico, the Uruguayan side got quite an unpleasant surprise when University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., played Chile’s national anthem instead of theirs. But if it makes Uruguay feel any better, Chile had their anthem messed up the very next day.

But this time, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., played a Pitbull song over Chile’s national anthem Monday before the team’s game against Argentina. The Chilean team, however, made sure it was heard when the music cut out.

According to U.S. Soccer spokesperson Neil Buethe via For The Win, this actually wasn’t as huge of a mistake as what happened to Uruguay. Apparently, the Chilean Federation approved a shorter version of the anthem, and when the track accidentally continued to the next scheduled song, the proud Chileans continued to sing it in full.

Argentina ended up beating Chile 2-1.
