Stephen A. Smith Calls Out Ayesha Curry For Having An Opinion And Expressing It

In the world of Stephen A. Smith, a woman is better off seen and not heard.

Smith weighed in on Ayesha Curry’s recent Twitter rant on ESPN’s “First Take,” saying she “stepped out of line” with her tweets. Curry did take to Twitter on Thursday night to express various frustrations, including her father nearly getting arrested before tip-off. She also complained about how the NBA “is rigged for money” after her husband, Stephen Curry, was ejected from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 115-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, although she eventually deleted that tweet.

Phew. OK, that’s a lot. But Smith’s reaction? Also a lot. He began his own rant by lecturing Ayesha Curry about making incendiary remarks while also calling her “classless” in the same breath.

Smith then compared Ayesha Curry to Savannah Brinson, the wife of LeBron James, because pitting two women against one another is totally the right way to go about things.

On Savannah, Smith said, “She sits there. She doesn’t bring any attention to herself. She never tweets and goes out there and calls out the league and stuff like that. And nobody, nobody is more scrutinized than her husband. But yet, she thinks about how she represents him, and as a result, she doesn’t do that.”

In a nutshell: Savannah good, Ayesha bad. Because apparently in Smith’s world, if you’re the wife of a basketball player, your job is to sit down and shut up, or else you’ll make your husband look bad.

Ayesha Curry fittingly managed to get the last word in on Twitter.
