NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant-Draymond Green Friendship Irked Thunder

Kevin Durant’s friendship with Draymond Green reportedly began long before the two became Golden State Warriors teammates this week.

And, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowksi, some of Durant’s former teammates weren’t particularly happy about it.

Wojnarowski said on the latest episode of “The Vertical Pod” that Durant’s close relationship with Green rubbed several Oklahoma City Thunder players the wrong way, particularly during the teams’ contentious meeting in the 2016 Western Conference finals.

“I know Russell (Westbrook) was bothered by — and some other teammates were too — of, like, there was some knowledge there that Draymond was in contact with Kevin all season long,” Wojnarowski said, as transcribed by The Big Lead. “And they’re in a playoff series, and I know there was some conversation around the Thunder team of, ‘Hey man, this guy (Green) kicked (Thunder big man) Steven Adams in the nuts twice in this series, and what are you doing hanging out with this guy? What’s the relationship? We’re trying to beat these guys.'”

The Thunder ultimately failed to beat Green’s Warriors, falling to them in seven games after taking a 3-1 series lead. Game 7 of that series was Durant’s final game in an OKC uniform.
