Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak was penalized for a high hit on New York Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi in Wednesday night’s 5-2 loss at Madison Square Garden.

He could face further discipline, though, as the NHL announced Thursday that Pastrnak has a hearing with the Department of Player Safety to discuss the hit.

The young winger served a two-minute minor penalty for an illegal check to the head. The play happened in the second period.

Pastrnak has never been suspended in his brief NHL career.

He has scored five goals with three assists in seven games this season. One of those goals opened the scoring Wednesday night.
