Watch Nick Young Pump-Fake At Free-Throw Line For No Apparent Reason

The free throw is arguably the most mundane play in basketball. But Nick Young somehow found a way to make it interesting.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard, who’s been known to steal passes from his own teammates, celebrate missed buzzer-beaters and more, was in rare form again Wednesday night. The Lakers were deadlocked with the Brooklyn Nets in the second quarter at Barclays Center when “Swaggy P” went to the line — and did this.

See, the thing about free throws is that they’re “free,” which makes pump faking unnecessary — unless you want to force a double lane violation, of course. That’s what happened here, leading to a jump ball which the Nets won.

Young’s strange attempt to shake an imaginary defender could have been passed off as goofy antics had the Lakers won, but they collapsed down the stretch in a 107-97 loss.

That means there’s only one proper response to the bizarre play. Get ’em next time, Nick.
