NFL Rumors: Kirk Cousins’ Poor Play Draws Complaints From Redskins Teammates

Kirk Cousins burst onto the scene last season by leading the Washington Redskins to the playoffs as NFC East champions — a run that included the game where he famously yelled “You like that?” after an important win.

Less than one year later, it appears several of his Redskins teammates don’t like the way their starting quarterback is playing through two games — both losses.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source, “multiple offensive players have begun to complain about quarterback Kirk Cousins, pointing to a lack of decisiveness, erratic play, and confusion.”

Colt McCoy would be the next quarterback up if Cousins is injured or benched, and the source told Florio, when asked about McCoy, that ?at least he?d play with poise.?

Normally there isn’t this much dissension in the locker room two games into the season, but an 0-2 hole isn’t a positive sign considering how difficult Washington’s schedule will become in the second half of the season.

The Redskins play the Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers to close the season, in that order. Five, or even six, of those teams could make the playoffs this season. Any more losses before that stretch would be devastating to the Redskins’ chances of making back-to-back playoff appearances.

Cousins has thrown for more than 300 yards in each game so far, but he has only one touchdown pass and three interceptions. One of those interceptions came in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys on a particularly bad throw. Washington would have gone up by 10 points if it had scored a touchdown on that drive.

Fantasy football owners certainly should monitor the situation and consider adding McCoy off the waiver wire if they already have Cousins on their roster.
