Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown was arrested outside Atlanta late Friday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Miami Herald.

Brown was pulled over for changing lanes without signaling, and then he performed poorly on the field-sobriety test, sources told the paper. He was released from jail Saturday morning and there’s a chance the charges could be reduced to a traffic violation, the article said.

The Dolphins have yet to comment on the arrest, but the paper said the team is not believed to be too upset with Brown because he has no arrest record and no history of any issues, either on the field or off.

Brown, a restricted free agent, is recovering from foot surgery that ended his season in November. In order for another team to sign the 28-year-old, it would have to give up a first-round pick. The combination of the rehabilitation and the steep price makes it a near-certainty that he’ll end up back in Miami.

The second overall pick in the 2005 draft rushed for 648 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games last season before suffering the Lisfranc fracture that required surgery. He was a Pro Bowler in 2008 when he collected 1,170 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.
