NCAA Tournament Day 4 Live Blog: Virginia Commonwealth Stands Strong With Huge Upset Win Over Georgetown 12:48 a.m.: For the first time in their school history, the Virginia Commonwealth Rams have won two games in the NCAA tournament. VCU defeated Georgetown 74-56 to advance.

Washington also pulled out their win over Georgia, though it was a close one. The Huskies advance with the 68-65 victory.

Syracuse maintained the lead throughout their matchup against Indiana State. The Orangemen finished with the 77-60 win.

11:47 p.m.: The Huskies have a comfortable lead over the Bulldogs, taking a 53-44 advantage with eight minutes to play in the second half. 

11:39 p.m.:
The Rams are in business, closing in on an upset over Georgetown as they hold a 56-38 edge with seven minutes to play in the game.

11:20 p.m.: Illinois never let up in their matchup with UNLV, earning the 73-62 upset win in the second round.

No. 11 VCU is quickly building upon their lead over No. 6 Georgetown. The Rams post a 49-28 lead early in the second half.

10:52 p.m.: Georgia jumped out to an early lead, but Washington is battling right back as the teams are tied at halftime.

Syracuse has quickly built upon their lead over Indiana State, taking a 25-11 advantage with 10 minutes to play in the first.

Virginia Commonwealth is still riding along ahead of Georgetown, with a 35-24 lead.

10:37 p.m.:
Look out Georgetown, the Rams have come to play. Virginia Commonwealth is out to a 30-23 lead over the Bulldogs in the first half.

Illinois continues their solid lead over UNLV, showing no mercy with a 57-32 advantage with 15 minutes to play in the second half.

Georgia is also out to an early 10-7 lead over Washington, and Syracuse holds a 12-6 gain on Indiana State.

10:10 p.m.: Illinois is looking for an upset, and they're well on their way as they post a solid 46-24 lead over UNLV at the half.

Marquette completed their upset of Xavier, earning the 66-55 victory in Cleveland.

9:36 p.m.:
Long Island gave a good effort, and put up a solid 87 points against North Carolina, but the Tar Heels come away with the 102-87 victory to advance.

9:32 p.m.: Purdue held their opponent under 50 points in their victory, as they defeat St. Peter's 65-43 in Chicago.

9:19 p.m.: Purdue is going to have no problem putting St. Peter's away, holding a 63-41 lead with two minutes to play.

The Tar Heels have also turned on the offense in the high-scoring game against the Blackbirds. UNC posts a 93-79 lead with three minutes to play.

Marquette is distancing themselves from Xavier as well, posting a 47-29 lead early in the second.

9:02 p.m.: There's still plenty of basketball to be played between Marquette and Xavier, but the Golden Eagles have been leading this one throughout the first half, and hold a 33-20 lead at halftime.

8:44 p.m.: It was exciting for a while there, but a strong second half pushes Kansas past Boston University with a 72-53 victory.

Purdue extends their lead to 20 over St. Peter's, leading 47-27. UNC has also pulled away from LIU, taking a 66-47 lead in the second.

Marquette continues to lead Xavier, taking a 33-20 advantage at the half.

8:34 p.m.: The thrilling first half of the BU-KU game has given way to a 20-point Jayhawks lead in the second.

Kansas leads 65-45 with four minutes to go.

8:23 p.m.: Marquette and Xavier are also under way this evening in Cleveland, as the 11th-seeded Golden Eagles have a 20-13 advantage over the Musketeers.

8:16 p.m.: Purdue is having no trouble with St. Peter's, as they post a 33-17 lead at the half.

8:15 p.m.: The Jayhawks are trying to break things open here in the second, as they now post ta 43-32 lead over the Terriers.

UNC is also pulling away from Long Island, with a 53-42 lead at the half.

8:05 p.m.: BU isn't the only team battling off a top-seeded team.

The Terriers trail 39-32 early in the second, but this one is far from over.

The Blackbirds of Long Island are also playing in a heated battle with UNC, as the Tar Heels hold a 42-35 lead with three minutes to play in the first.

7:36 p.m.:
Who saw this one coming?

We'll have to see if BU can continue this exciting momentum from the first half, as they trail by just four points, 33-29, at halftime.

Guard/forward John Holland had 15 points for BU in the first, and is 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Purdue leads St. Peters 15-4, and North Carolina leads Long Island 19-11. Both games are in the first half.

7:25 p.m.: BU is holding their ground against the No. 1-seeded Jayhawks. The Terriers trail 25-22 with four minutes to play in the first.

7:01 p.m.: While one No. 1 seed moves on, another battles with Boston University in Tulsa. BU takes an early lead at the 13 minute mark, with a 10-8 advantage.

7:00 p.m.: The Buckeyes are moving on to the next round, as they complete the 75-46 rout of UTSA in Cleveland.

6:40 p.m.:
For all you UTSA fans out there — things are not going well for the Roadrunners. The Buckeyes keep on their dominant roll in the second half, posting a 62-32 lead.

6:25 p.m.: No. 10 Florida State upends the No. 7 seed, Texas A&M, with a 57-50 victory in Chicago. Derwin Kitchen led the way for the Seminoles, with 15 points and seven rebounds.

6:23 p.m.: The Seminoles are startinig to pull away from the Aggies with 25 seconds remaining, and they just took a 57-50lead with a dominant dunk.

6:08 p.m.: The only other game going on right now is the Ohio State matchup against UT-San Antonio. The Buckeyes maintain a solid 37-21 lead over the Roadrunners at the half.

6:05 p.m.: Florida State has been battling with Texas A&M throughout this matchup, and the Seminoles hold a 45-40 lead over Aggies. Just over five minutes to play in this one.

5:20 p.m.: Duke also completed their victory over Hampton — posting a dominant 87-45 win.

5:15 p.m.: If you don't lay it all on the line here, then your dance is done. Derek Williams comes up with a huge block in the final seconds to help lead the Wildcats to the 77-75 victory over Memphis.

Williams led the way with a double-double for the 'Cats, posting 22 points and 10 rebounds.

5:07 p.m.: Thirty second may not seem like a lot of time, but in basketball — it's plenty to change the pace of a close game.

Arizona has the 73-70 lead over the Tigers.

4:52 p.m.: The Wildcats battled back to tie things up with Memphis, but there is still plenty of basketball to play with five minutes remaining.

4:42 p.m.: In the classic No. 5 vs. No. 12 battle, the lower-seeded Memphis Tigers hold a 63-58 lead over Arizona.

Meanwhile, Duke is handling No. 16-seeded Hampton, posting a 30-point lead midway through the second half.

4:35 p.m.:
The Patriots came back with a dramatic win over Villanova, earning a 61-57 victory. Villanova had the final shot, but it bounced off the side of the basket with four seconds remaining, and George Mason finished the game with one final slam dunk.

4:32 p.m.: The lead keeps swinging back and forth as George Mason sophomore Luke Hancock hits a huge three to put the Patriots up 59-57.

Nova has no more time outs, and they'll be playing for the final bucket with nine seconds remaining.

4:21 p.m.: Villanova continues their lead on George Mason, as they look to pull the slight upset over the No. 8-seeded Patriots. They hold the 54-51lead with 1:54 remaining.

3:47 p.m.: The Fighting Irish are moving on as they took down Akron 69-56.

2:53 p.m.: The Nova Cats are looking strong with less than six minutes to go in the first half as they own an eight-point lead over GMU.

2:46 p.m.: The Longhorns were able to hang on against Oakland, so we'll shift our focus elsewhere. Notre Dame is leading 34-30 over the Zips while Nova owns a six-point lead over GMU.

2:17 p.m.: Tough call against Oakland as Texas gets to the free-throw line with less than a minute to go. It appeared as though the players got a little tangled up, but certainly didn't warrant a whistle.

2:14 p.m.: Texas' lead has been trimmed to just five with 1:22 to go, as Oakland's Larry Wright hits a huge 3-pointer.

2:11 p.m.: Tennessee came out pretty strong at the beginning of this one, but Michigan is proving to be too much for the Vols as they're leading 52-31 with about 12 minutes to go in the game. Zack Novak has 14 points for Big Blue.

1:43 p.m.: Oakland was able to hang on for a while, but Texas is pulling away as the Horns own a 15-point lead (66-51) with 11 minutes left in the second half. Jordan Hamilton and Tristan Thompson each have 15 points.

1:24 p.m.: The Wolverines battled back and now own the halftime lead, 33-29.

1:19 p.m.: Michigan is refusing to let the Vols tack on a sizable lead as the Wolverines are within one point with five minutes to go in the half.

1:10 p.m.: The Wolverines are struggling to keep pace with the Vols, who are leading 22-17 with seven to go in the half thanks to a 9-4 run.

1:04 p.m.: The Horns are up eight at the half thanks to 58 percent shooting from the floor. Oakland, led by Travis Bader and Reggie Hamilton (who have 10 points apiece), have five turnovers to Texas' four.

1 p.m.: The Longhorns have turned it up after Oakland's 8-0 run and have a 42-32 lead with 1:50 to go in the first half.

12:55 p.m.: Here come the Golden Grizzlies! Oakland is on a 8-0 run and have brought the score to 33-28 with four to go in the first half.

12:52 p.m.: In other action, Tennessee is leading Michigan 11-7. Tobias Harris is leading the way with eight points for the Vols.

12:47 p.m.: As expected, the Longhorns are handling Oakland with ease and have built a 31-19 lead with about seven minutes to go in the first half. J'Covan Brown leads the way with seven points.

10:30 a.m.:
The Texas Longhorns may be the higher seed in their opening-round matchup against Oakland, but the Austin hoopsters have plenty to be afraid of.

Oakland University is the high-scoring Summit League champion, second in the nation in scoring offense (85.6 points per game) and are led by center Keith Benson. The 6-foot-11 senior averaged 18 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season, and he had 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 89-82 win at Tennessee on Dec. 14.

Texas and Oakland get the ball rolling at little after noon (ET) while Tennessee and Michigan tip off at 12:40 p.m. in North Carolina. The ninth-seeded Volunteers (19-14) will be looking for the upset over the No. 8 seed Wolverines (20-13).
