Alabama running back Mark Ingram might be flying straight into Bill Belichick's doghouse.
Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner who might be the draft's best running back, tweeted Monday that he's flying to Boston.
On the surface, a simple flight to Boston might not mean a whole lot. Maybe he's a fan of spending Patriots' Day in the city. Or, he might just want a great bowl of clam chowder. As a potential first-round pick, he can afford the luxuries of hopping on a flight to get a first-class meal.
But in the NFL world, this tweet means Ingram will be working out with the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. All teams are allowed to host 30 private workouts at their facility, and that window expires Wednesday. Ingram has been linked to the Patriots for a number of reasons, but there are concerns over the health of his knees, so the Pats would have an obvious interest in a medical recheck.
The Patriots can hold private workouts after Wednesday, but they can't host any at Gillette Stadium. Rather, the workouts can happen at the player's college campus or another training facility.
