There were plenty of trades at this year's NHL draft — highlighted, of course, by the trade of Philadelphia Flyers captain Mike Richards to Los Angeles for Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds and a draft pick. But there were a several other deals that could potentially have a major impact on a number of teams going forward.
The Flyers added the eighth overall pick, a third-round pick and Jakub Voracek when they shipped Jeff Carter to Columbus.
The Calgary Flames freed up some cap space when they convinced Robyn Regehr to waive his no-trade clause as part of a deal that sent him, Ales Kotalik and a 2012 second-round pick to Buffalo in exchange for Chris Butler and Paul Byron.
San Jose sent off newly-signed Devon Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle and a 2011 first-round pick to draft-host Minnesota for Brent Burns and a second-round pick in next year's draft. The Sharks also gave up their 2012 third-round pick for Florida's second-round pick.
The 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks swapped Brian Campbell for Florida's Rostislav Olesz, and Troy Brouwer for Washington's first-round pick.
The Ottawa Senators packaged off both of their second-round picks for Detroit's first — the No. 24 overall. Ottawa also acquired Nikita Filatov from the Blue Jackets for a third-round pick.
Toronto dealt both of their 2011 second-round picks to Anaheim for the No. 22 overall pick and a second-round 2012 pick to Colorado for John-Michael Liles. The Maple Leafs and the Ducks swapped sixth-round picks, as Anaheim handed over their 2012 pick for Toronto's 2011 pick.
The new Winnipeg Jets made a couple of trades on the second day when they sent off two fourth-round picks for Montreal's third-round pick. They then acquired San Jose's fourth-round pick in exchange for their fifth- and seventh-round picks.
Tampa Bay traded Marc-Antoine Pouliot to Phoenix for a seventh-round pick, and traded future considerations to the Islanders for Bruno Gervais. The Islanders' New York counterpart, the Rangers, sent Evgeny Grachev to St. Louis for a third-round pick, and sent a 2012 sixth-round pick to Nashville for this year's No. 172 overall pick.
The Kings made one more trade in addition to trading for Mike Richards, acquiring this year's third-round pick from Nashville in exchange for a sixth-round pick this year and a 2012 third-round pick.
