Nearly a month after Scottie Pippen made headlines for arguing that LeBron James might be the best NBA player ever, the six-time champion has apparently rescinded his controversial statement.

Pippen made his original comments after LeBron had helped carry the Miami Heat past the Bulls in five games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game," Pippen told ESPN Radio back in late May.

Shortly thereafter, the Heat fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games in the NBA Finals, and LeBron was handed much of the blame for his late-game struggles throughout the series.

Next came Pippen's retraction.

"We all know that [Jordan's] the greatest player that ever played the game," Pippen said Friday when speaking to reporters at a youth camp, insisting that he was only trying to give "LeBron some props as a player."

Pippen added that there are no hard feelings between he and his former teammate.
