A high school football star from New York City was fatally stabbed in an argument with parking attendants over whether something was stolen from the family's car.

The Associated Press reports that Isayah Muller, 19, was pronounced on dead Tuesday after being rushed to a clinic by his family and girlfriend, said Paul Browne, the New York Police Department's chief spokesman.

Muller, who led his school to the Public Schools Athletic League championship as a running back, was headed to a local community college to play football, according to his Facebook page.

On the way out to eat after the graduation, Muller's father noticed something missing from the car, according to the AP.

Police said the father went back to the parking lot, started arguing with the attendants and then began hitting them with a shovel. Muller went out to aide his father, but was stabbed in the chest.

The two parking attendants are being questioned and Muller's father, Andre, has been charged with assault.

Words of support quickly spread for Isayah through social media.

"He would walk into a room and light it up. It's a cliche, but it's true in this case," his football coach John-James Shepherd told the AP.
