Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams never won a state championship while playing for the Permian Panthers in Texas. He’s never won a Super Bowl in his six years in the NFL, either.

His lack of rings has left him feeling pretty close to the only one he has: an engagement ring.

Williams proposed to Brooke Daniels, a former Miss Texas beauty pageant winner, via a recorded message sent in the mail accompanied by the ring. Daniels declined the proposal but never returned the ring.

Now Williams wants the ring back and the wideout filed a lawsuit on June 30, according to oaoa.com. Williams accused Daniels of stealing the ring after he claimed Brooke said she lost it.

The ring, worth $76,000, is now in the possession of Daniels’ father, Michael Daniels. Michael Daniels claims to have recorded evidence of Williams telling his daughter to keep the ring. However, he is going to return it to avoid the lawsuit against his daughter.

“He said [to Brooke Daniels], ‘I’m not like a lot of people, I don’t want the ring back. You’ll eventually come back to me,’ and she didn’t,” Michael Daniels told Jon Vanderlaan of oaoa.com.

Michael Daniels also said his daughter never told Williams the ring was lost and that he was in possession of the ring the entire time.

“I want to wash my hands of it,” Michael Daniels said. “It’s just a hassle. I’ll take care of my daughter. I don’t need him.”
