If the Peyton Manning rumors are true, the Denver Broncos will likely be looking to trade Tim Tebow.
While there are several teams still without starting quarterbacks, it will be hard to find some that are willing to give up assets to acquire Tebow.
It’s possible, however, that a couple teams will be interested in trading for Tebow to add versatility to their offense. Among those could be the New England Patriots, ESPN’s John Clayton said on a radio show this weekend.
“Here’s an interesting proposition, just a rumor. Let’s say you have Manning going to Denver,” Clayton said on ESPN Radio over the weekend. “Tim Tebow is probably going to be traded. He’s not going to Jacksonville, they’ve already got Chad Henne. New England. You trade him to New England and groom him to be kind of a role player, and then you trade Ryan Mallett in some way. It’s just a rumor.”
Why would the Patriots want to trade for Tebow when they already have Tom Brady under center? Well, New England’s offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, is the one who drafted Tebow during his time with the Broncos. McDaniels clearly saw something that he liked in the young quarterback and may believe that he could be a valuable part of the Patriots’ offense.
