Wimbledon Could Be Moved Back a Week as All England Club Considers New Schedule

Wimbledon Could Be Moved Back a Week as All England Club Considers New Schedule It may take only a few hours to pass from France to England, but many tennis experts think it should take more than two weeks to go from the clay court play of Roland Garros to the grass finish of Wimbledon.

The All England Club may be taking care of that, according to the BBC.

"We are seriously considering" moving back the start date of Wimbledon, All England Lawn Tennis Club chief executive Richard Lewis told the BBC. "It's often been discussed, and it would be ideal to have a longer break. It would be three weeks, ideally, between the French Open and Wimbledon."

Lewis cited "tennis reasons" such as "rest and recuperation," much of which has been voiced by the sport's biggest stars recently.

Lewis did not give a timetable on when the decision would be made or whether a shift was possible for next year.
