Robin van Persie may score when he wants, but his singing prowess is no match for his soccer skills.
Video of the Manchester United striker singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” has emerged, and it contains ominous (sound)waves that threaten to sink his singing career before it starts.
Van Persie only sang the last few bars of the hit song, and he did it with quite a bit of feeling. The emotional connection makes sense, as the song is a favorite at clubs in his hometown of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Fans of Feyenoord and Excelsior have been known to sing the tune at home games.
The video has made news in England, as it is the club anthem at Liverpool FC — Manchester United’s longtime rival. But the Dutchman’s new team won’t have any problems with his musical choice, as long as he keeps scoring for fun in the Premier League. Also, the video was uploaded in July 2011 as he was preparing to break the hearts of Arsenal fans.
