Report: Josh Brent Will Not Be Allowed on Cowboys’ Sideline for Remainder of Season

Josh Brent‘s presence on the Cowboys’ sideline during Sunday’s game against the Steelers rubbed some people the wrong way. Now, the team and the league are reportedly taking action.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Cowboys and the NFL agree that it was inappropriate for Brent to be on the sideline Sunday, and the nose tackle will not be permitted to be on the sideline going forward.

Brent is currently on the reserve/non-football injury list after being charged with intoxication manslaughter for his involvement in a car crash that killed teammate Jerry Brown on Dec. 8. Brent was initially released on $500,000 bail, and, according to reports, he reluctantly decided to join his teammates on the sideline Sunday after they insisted that he do so.

Brown’s mother, Stacey Jackson, has said she forgives Brent, although Brent was found to be legally drunk while driving during the crash that killed Brown.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett initially stood by the decision to have Brent on the sideline, but later reports indicated that Garrett was unaware that Brent would be joining his teammates until pregame warmups. Jones reportedly found out when he saw Brent on TV.

Brent reportedly left Cowboys Stadium during the third quarter of Sunday’s game after learning that his presence was becoming the subject of national debate.
