After saying it would take “like five minutes” to get a new job, Rob Ryan is finally employed again — and it took a month.
The Saints announced they have hired the former Cowboys defensive coordinator for the same position. Ryan was fired by the Cowboys in early January after Jerry Jones promised major changes coming to the organization.
The Cowboys were 8-8 in 2012. They were 19th in yards allowed and 24th in points allowed. Ryan is expected to take his 3-4 defense to New Orleans. The Saints were 32nd in yards allowed and 31st in points allowed in 2012 under Steve Spagnuolo.
Ryan will team up with returning head coach Sean Payton in 2013. The Saints had a down year without Payton in 2012 going 7-9 and missing the playoffs.
