The Corcoran family returned to the finish line Monday afternoon and finished what they started last year.
During last April’s tragic Boston Marathon bombing, Celeste and Sydney Corcoran were standing near the finish line to cheer on Celeste’s sister, Carmen Accabo, when the bombs went off. Celeste, Sydney’s mother, lost both of her legs as a result while 18-year-old Sydney had to have a vein graft to repair a torn femoral artery.
A year later, the mother-daughter duo returned to Boylston St. once again to support Accabo as she finished the race, but this time, they joined in. Celeste, with her new prosthetic legs, and Sydney joined Carmen for the last stretch of the race, holding hands as the family members crossed the finish line.
