Japanese High School Team Rallies From Eight Runs Down In Ninth To Win (Video)

There are dramatic comebacks, and then there is what Seiryo High School pulled off Sunday afternoon.

With a spot in the legendary Summer Koshien tournament on the line, the Japanese squad found itself trailing 8-0 entering the bottom of the ninth inning. What followed was a rally that was straight out of the 2001 Cleveland Indians’ playbook.

Seiryo scored six runs before making its first out — the fifth and sixth of which came on a massive home run that left the stadium entirely — and pushed across the game-winning run on a two-out single with runners on the corners.

All of this was done before a packed crowd of raucous fans, many of whom — for some reason — showed up to the ballpark in full uniform.

The losing team, Komatsu Otani, chose to make just one pitching change during the disastrous ninth inning, with the second reliever surrendering the final seven runs. That, my friends, is what you call a rough outing.
