NFL Week 1 Injury Update: Michael Crabtree Reportedly Active For 49ers

by

Sep 7, 2014

7:30 p.m.: Sunday night’s showdown between the Broncos and Colts is an hour away, and each team will be without a notable skill player. Running back Ronnie Hillman is inactive for Denver, and receiver Da’Rick Rogers will sit out for Indianapolis.

Check out the full list of Denver’s inactives here and Indianapolis’ inactives here.

3:12 p.m.: The 49ers will have wide receiver Michael Crabtree for the season opener, according to FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer.

3:09 p.m.: The late games are just around the corner, and we have news to pass along about Cam Newton. The Carolina Panthers have announced he is out, and Derek Anderson will start at quarterback against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

12:25 p.m.: Doesn’t sound good for Cam Newton, so it probably makes sense to start another quarterback if you own him in your fantasy leagues, especially if your second choice plays an early game.

11:42 a.m.: No real surprise, but Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are absent from the Patriots’ inactive list, so they both should be good to go for New England.

11:40 a.m.: Carolina quarterback Cam Newton reportedly is a game-time decision, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

11:37 a.m.: Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson is inactive, the team announced.

11:30 a.m.: It’s really not much of a surprise, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is on the field for pregame warmups, and according to reporters in Miami, it doesn’t appear he’s being limited by his calf injury.

10:50 a.m.: The game-time decision on Garrett Graham apparently has been made. Once again, NFL Network’s Albert Breer has the latest.

10 a.m.: Houston Texans tight end Garrett Graham is a game-time decision, as Albert Breer just reported on NFL Network.

9:18 a.m.: Here’s the latest on a pair of Washington Redskins, per NFL Media’s Albert Breer.

8:48 a.m.: Cam Newton said he was ready to go despite a rib injury, but Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera might hold out his quarterback for at least a week, according to NFL Media reporter Ian Rapoport.

8:10 a.m.: It sounds like Rob Gronkowski is a go for Sunday.

ProFootballTalk.com reported moments ago that a league source indicated Gronkowski is expected to play, but he will do so on a limited basis.

7:50 a.m.: The Arizona Cardinals don’t play until late Monday night, so an injury update Sunday morning might not make a ton of sense.

However, fantasy football owners who have Andre Ellington on their team might think otherwise.

The Cardinals running back’s status is still up in the air. He recently suffered a foot injury, and the early reports weren’t good, as it was initially reported he could miss up to six weeks. However, Ellington practiced Saturday, and his status for Monday night’s season opener against the San Diego Chargers is still undecided.

As CBS Sports fantasy football writer Dave Richard points out, Ellington owners probably should go in a different direction this week.

7:20 a.m.: Welcome back, football.

Our long national nightmare is over, as the NFL returns in full Sunday with a near-full slate of games across the league, save for Thursday night’s game in Seattle and two Monday night tilts.

The return of football also means the return of monitoring the status on each of the 32 teams for fantasy football or other football-related wagering.

Arguably the most notable names across the league on the injury bubble are both New England Patriots. Quarterback Tom Brady (calf) and tight end Rob Gronkowski (knee) were on the final injury report of the week and were listed as questionable. While both have said they expect to play, we won’t know for sure for another few hours.

So be sure to check back throughout the day, as we’ll keep you updated on all of the latest injury news from across the league.
