Frank Lampard Manchester City ChelseaFrank Lampard probably won’t grace the Premier League much longer.

Rumors claiming that Lampard might extend his loan spell at Manchester City have been circulating recently, but the veteran midfielder’s agent appeared to refute them Monday.

Steve Kutner told the New York Daily News that the prospect of Lampard remaining with Manchester City beyond Jan. 1, 2015 was “not even discussed” — presumably with the Premier League club or Lampard’s parent club, New York City FC.

Lampard, 36, has impressed during his loan spell with Manchester City. Lampard has scored four goals in six games, including one against his former club Chelsea FC.

Lampard currently is recovering from a thigh injury he suffered on Oct. 18. While he could return to action within a week, Lampard declined to comment on the speculation surrounding his near-term future.

“All I can say is how much I’m enjoying it at City,” Lampard told Manchester City’s website, according to FIFA.com. “I’m contracted here until the end of December and my future will be at New York City at some stage.

“All I can do now is go week by week and play as well as I can when I am playing to bring a good contribution. I didn’t know what to expect before I came here but the move has opened my eyes to a fantastic club with fantastic people behind the scenes and I’m just trying to enjoy every minute.

“I want to look back on it and say I enjoyed it — but more than that, I want to look back and say I made a bit of a difference in a positive way. What I will say is: For every minute I am here, I’ll give it everything and we’ll see how it goes.”

New York City FC will begin its inaugural season in March 2015. The club is likely to begin preseason training in January.
