The New England Patriots have won their fair share of games in recent years. On Wednesday night, though, they picked up a different kind of win.

The Patriots’ official Twitter account hit one million followers, becoming the first team in NFL history to cross that plateau.

As you can probably figure out, New England’s account has the most followers of any NFL franchise, with the Dallas Cowboys’ Twitter close behind. The Cowboys soon could join the Patriots in the “one million club,” as their official account had approximately 985,000 followers as of Wednesday night.

The three-time Super Bowl champs long have been popular in the world of social media. They started the 2014 season with the most Twitter followers and also have increased their presence on Facebook, perhaps thanks to some brilliant posts from a certain starting quarterback.

As long as the Patriots keep winning — and as long as Tom Brady is at the helm — the team’s popularity shouldn’t decrease. As for being the first squad with a million Twitter followers… Well, let’s just be glad the Cowboys didn’t draft Johnny Manziel.
