The Denver Broncos scoreboard operator was called into the principal’s office after Peyton Manning tattled on him.
The Broncos quarterback criticized the employee for showing video on the board that led the crowd to make noise while the Broncos had the ball during Denver’s Oct. 23 home game.
Manning’s words had an impact, apparently, as ESPN.com reported Sunday that Broncos president Joe Ellis and vice president Mac Freeman both talked to the scoreboard operator about what ESPN labels “appropriate guidelines.”
Manning was upset late in that Oct. 23 blowout win over the San Diego Chargers after the scoreboard operator showed video of Broncos players dancing and also of Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers on the bench.
“I got a problem with our scoreboard operator; I’ve got to have a little talk with him,” Manning said after the game. “I’m not sure what he’s doing. He’s playing music and showing players dancing, getting the crowd fired up and we have the ball. I don’t think we should be doing that.”
It’s probably safe to assume there won’t be any shenanigans Sunday when the Broncos host the Miami Dolphins at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
