Sergio Brown Tweets About Rob Gronkowski: ‘I Put The Straps On That Boy’

Rob Gronkowski and Sergio Brown are former teammates. But they’re not exactly old friends.

Brown, if you’ll recall, was the player who broke Gronkowski’s arm on an extra point play during a 2012 game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. The two squared off again Sunday night, and the big tight end appeared to have his way, rumbling for four receptions and 71 yards, including a highlight-reel 26-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Not according to Brown, who was a teammate of Gronkowski’s in New England from 2010 to 2011. The Colts cornerback sent out a series of tweets Monday — which he later deleted — claiming that he locked Gronk down when he lined up across from his ex-teammate.

Tell us how you really feel, Sergio. On the surface, the fiery defensive back has a point.

That being said, bragging about shutting down one player when your defense gave up six touchdowns in a 42-20 loss probably isn’t the best look. Gronkowski didn’t put up huge numbers Sunday night, but he didn’t need to, as running back Jonas Gray pounded the rock for 199 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

And then there’s this play after Gray’s fourth touchdown, when Gronkowski finally got tired of Brown’s trash talking and, in his own words, “threw him out of the club.”

It’s certainly not a bad thing that Brown is confident about limiting a matchup nightmare like Gronkowski, but his timing wasn’t exactly ideal. Shortly after, Brown sent out another tweet explaining that he finally had moved on.
