Detroit Bar Offering Free Food, Alcohol If Lions Beat Packers

Some Detroit Lions fans are going to be cheering extra hard and boozing extra hard for their team Sunday.

The Pour House in Madison Heights, Mich., a suburb of Detroit, will give its patrons free food and drinksĀ if the Lions do something they haven’t done since Dec. 15, 1991 — defeat the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

There’s a lot at stake for the Lions and Packers, as the winners of the NFC North matchup will win the division title and earn a first-round bye in the playoffs — not to mention the chance toĀ make some fans at The Pour House very happy (and drunk).

“There’s a lot of excitement around here about the Lions making the playoffs, possibly getting that first-week bye and being two weeks away from the Super Bowl,” bar owner Rudy Jarbo told ESPN.com. “I think this gives Lions fans an incentive to watch physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.”

To receive the free goods, fans must be at the bar before kickoff and stay the entire game.

This isn’t exactly a dive bar, either. The bar sells craft beers that go for as much as $23 and a shot of JohnnyĀ Walker Blue will put you out $30.

“We’re not selling Bud Light and Coors,” Jarbo said. “So the costs will add up if someone gets confident.”

Jarbo is going all in on his Lions, and it appears he’s more than happy to lose out on some profits if it means celebrating a Detroit victory.

“If the Lions win, this two-decade-long Lions fan will celebrate,” he said. “Plus we’d be giving back to our customers.”
