Jim Harbaugh could save Michigan football, but he’s already doing wonders for the basketball team.

After plenty of rumors and speculation, it appears that the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers will head back to his alma mater and take over as Brady Hoke’s replacement. Dave Feldman, a sports anchor for CSN Bay Area and close friend of Harbaugh’s, tweeted late Saturday night that it was a done deal and Harbaugh would be introduced as Michigan’s 20th head football coach on Tuesday.

The Wolverines’ basketball team opens up its Big Ten season that same day against the University of Illinois, leading many to believe Harbaugh would be introduced during the game. While nothing is official — including Harbaugh to Michigan — the prices of tickets for Tuesday’s basketball game have skyrocketed since the news broke.

Fortunately, it appears these overzealous fans will get their wish of seeing Harbaugh at the Crisler Center.

Michigan has gone all-out in their pursuit of the head coach, offering to make him the highest-paid coach in college football; they even wished him a happy birthday on Twitter. Their valiant efforts apparently have paid off, as ESPN’s John Clayton now is reporting that Harbaugh is calling other NFL coaches to join him in Ann Arbor.
