Jerry Jones: Chris Christie Key To Cowboys’ Success, ‘Part Of Our Mojo’

The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of people to thank for their recent success, which culminated in a win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC wild-card round.

If you ask Jerry Jones, New Jersey governor Chris Christie is one of them.

Christie has attended several Cowboys games this season, including Dallas’ playoff-clinching win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16 and its postseason win over the Lions. Apparently that’s enough for Jones to view the politician as his own good luck charm.

The Cowboys owner said Tuesday on a Dallas radio station that he wants Christie by his side when his team plays the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

“He’s part of our mojo,” Jones said, via ESPN.com. “I want him there all the way. I’ll tell you, if he’s got enough mojo to pull this thing out, he ought to be looked at as president of the United States.”

All right then.

Christie has taken some heat for his allegiance to Dallas, but his superstitious value was enough for Jones to embrace him in a brutally awkward hug after last Sunday’s win over Detroit.

The Cowboys might need more than good “mojo” to take down the Packers in the NFC divisional round, as the Packers haven’t lost at Lambeau all season. Then again, Dallas hasn’t lost on the road this season, so something has to give.

Apparently Jones hopes Christie can tip the scales in his team’s favor.
