Benson Henderson went up and out of his element Saturday night, but he was still able to continue his winning ways.

Henderson (22-5) won his welterweight debut with a submission win over Brandon Thatch at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. Henderson was able to make Thatch tap in the fourth round with a rear-naked choke.

Thatch (11-2) owned a size advantage and took the first two rounds, but Henderson was able to fight back and win his 170-pound debut.

“He looked unbelievable tonight against a tough, big guy. It was insane. He looked so good,” UFC president Dana White said at the post-fight news conference. “You know me. I’m not a big fan of small guys moving up to bigger weight classes, but how can you deny him? He looked unbelievable.”
