The MLB regular season is right around the corner, and we have video proof.

The Boston Red Sox took on another big league club for the first time in 2015 on Thursday night, when they played the Minnesota Twins in their Grapefruit League opener in Fort Myers.

Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts wasted little time in providing fireworks, taking a juicy offering from Twins pitcher Tim Stauffer in the third inning and hammering it over the fence in straightaway center field.

Bogaerts’ two-run blast cut the Twins’ lead to just one run and was a promising sign for fans who expect big things at the plate from the 22-year-old Aruba native this season.

Never one to be outdone, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia decided to get into the act one inning later when he smacked a grand slam into the left field seats.

Yup, baseball is back, even if the Red Sox lost 9-8.
