BOSTON — Brad Stevens put it in simple terms Wednesday: He will not be leaving the Celtics any time soon.

Stevens’ name was mentioned Tuesday in connection with the vacant head-coaching position at the University of Texas, and the coach was asked about the rumor before Wednesday’s matchup with the Indiana Pacers at TD Garden.

The question had barely left the reporter’s mouth when Stevens gave his unequivocal response.

“I’ll be in Boston,” he said.

So, there you have it.

As long as Stevens continues his thus-far-successful NBA tenure, there will be suitors looking to lure the former Butler coach back to the college ranks. But for now, he appears fully committed to the Celtics’ cause.
