Liverpool fans have enjoyed Philippe Coutinho’s performances for most of the 2014-15 season. Coutinho’s peers also have recognized his good campaign.

Coutinho was named to the Professional Footballers’ Association “Team of the Season” for 2014-15 on Sunday at an awards ceremony in London. Coutinho earned his place on the all-league team by vote of the players’ union.

Coutinho arguably has been Liverpool’s best and most consistent player this season. The Brazilian playmaker has scored seven goals and assisted five more in 47 games this season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hailed Coutinho’s inclusion Monday, according to LiverpoolFC.com.

“It’s fantastic for him,” Rodgers said at his press conference ahead of Tuesday’s Liverpool-Hull City game. “We all know what he’s given to the team since he came here, in the last couple of seasons.

“But it’s also nice for him that other players recognize that as well. For him to be in there with a host of players with great quality, he sits well placed in amongst that.

“I’m delighted for him. He has been absolutely brilliant in his time here, and this season he has been a real catalyst for us.”

Coutinho, 22, also had been named a finalist for both the PFA’s Player of the Year Award and its Young Player of the Year Award. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Tottenham’s Harry Kane won the Player and Young Player of the Year Awards over Coutinho, respectively.
