Celtics Rookie Jersey Numbers: Terry Rozier Looks To Reverse No. 12 Curse

One day before introducing their four 2015 draftees to the media, the Boston Celtics announced Monday which uniform number each will be wearing this season.

Here they are, per Marc D’Amico of Celtics.com:

— Boston’s top pick, point guard Terry Rozier, will sport No. 12, as the No. 0 he wore at Louisville already belongs to Celtics guard Avery Bradley. That number hasn’t given much luck to its owners of late: Twelve different Celtics players have worn No. 12 over the past decade, and each of the last nine to do so did not return for a second season with the team.

The two players who wore the number last season — Dwight Powell and Tayshaun Prince — combined to play 14 games in green.

— Guard R.J. Hunter, whom the Celtics selected 28th overall, will wear that same number on his jersey. He wore No. 22 during his time at Georgia State, but those digits have been retired by the C’s for Hall of Famer Ed Macauley.

— Second-round pick Jordan Mickey will wear No. 55, making him the first Celtics player since Terence Williams in 2013 to do so. At LSU, Mickey wore No. 25, which belonged to Hall of Famer K.C. Jones and also hangs from the rafters at TD Garden.

— The Celtics’ final selection, guard Marcus Thornton, has been assigned No. 27, which was last worn by Jordan Crawford. The No. 3 Thornton sported at William & Mary also has been retired by the Celtics, having been worn by Hall of Fame guard Dennis Johnson.

The Celtics will officially introduce the four rookies at a news conference set for Tuesday at 10 a.m.
