What was the best play of the 2014 NFL season? We’ll give you three guesses, and two don’t count.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s incredible one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys easily was the year’s most impressive highlight (with all due respect to Rob Gronkowski). The snag catapulted the New York Giants wide receiver into the spotlight and was one of several amazing plays Beckham made during his Rookie of the Year campaign.

Beckham’s catch was so incredible, in fact, there are several layers to its awesomeness. According to former NFL linebacker Matt Chatham, the most significant is that of Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr, who added an extra degree of difficulty by yanking Beckham in the other direction right before the catch.

“To gather and launch into that unheard-of position immediately after being tugged at in the other direction is where the real magic lies,” Chatham writes on FootballByFootball.com. “Beckham completes one of the most athletic snags ever in a sports contest … and he did it under the specific duress that makes that kind of catch unlikely.

Beckham’s ability to come down with the ball despite the pass interference call makes his catch the No. 1 play on FootballByFootball.com’s Top 10 list. Click the link below for a further breakdown of the amazing play.
