It didn’t take long for Arian Foster’s injury issues to return.

The Houston Texans running back has battled injuries over the last two seasons, playing just 21 of 32 regular-season games. He could be looking at another extend absence after reportedly injuring his groin during Texans practice Monday night.

The injury is considered serious, and according to multiple reports, it’s likely to require surgery. If Foster does need surgery, he’s expected to be placed on injured reserve with designation to return.

When healthy, Foster is still one of the NFL’s best running backs. He averaged nearly 100 yards per game last season, racking up 1,246 yards in just 13 games while also scoring eight touchdowns. Foster was selected to appear in the Pro Bowl, but he was replaced by Justin Forsett after suffering a hamstring injury.

Regardless, the Foster injury should make for some compelling TV on the season premiere of “Hard Knocks.”
