Liverpool FC’s players stand to benefit from the club’s efforts at bringing soccer further into the 21st century.

Liverpool’s medical personnel has begun using myplayXplay, a new technology which allows them to view instant replays of injury-causing incidents on mobile devices, according to Sport Techie. Medics can use their iPads to zoom in on a player’s affected area with hopes of offering them better treatment at a faster pace than previously possible.

MyplayXplay came to the attention of the public earlier this month when Dejan Lovren took a knock during the Reds’ win over Manchester City at Anfield.

Liverpool joins the NHL’s New York Rangers and the national rugby teams of Ireland and Wales among professional sports sides using myplayXplay.

The new technology could give the Reds an edge over rivals when it comes to returning their injured players to the field on accelerated timetables.
