Matt Forte: Patriots Showed ‘Minor Interest’ In Free Agency

It seems Matt Forte was never very close to joining the New England Patriots.

The running back said Monday in a conference call with the media that the Patriots showed “minor interest” in free agency. Forte also received minor interest from the Green Bay Packers. His decision ultimately came down to the Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys.

The Patriots haven’t signed a free-agent running back yet. Arian Foster, James Starks, Chris Johnson, Alfred Morris, LeGarrette Blount and Ronnie Hillman are the best players available at the position.
