BOSTON — Jackie Bradley Jr.’s hitting streak is beginning to reach historic levels.

The Red Sox center fielder lined a single to right field in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park, giving him at least one hit in 27 consecutive games.

Bradley, who was bumped up to sixth in Sunday’s lineup after getting walked three times Saturday, owns the longest streak in Major League Baseball this season. He also entered rarified air in Boston, as his 27-game hitting streak ties him with David Ortiz (2012-13), Manny Ramirez (2006) and Dom DiMaggio (1951) for the sixth-longest in franchise history.

Bradley still has his work cut out for him, though. DiMaggio owns the longest hitting streak in Red Sox history at 34 games, and that’s still well shy of his brother Joe’s MLB-record 56-game streak.

The 26-year-old entered Sunday leading the majors in batting average (.411), slugging percentage (.800), OPS (1.286) and extra-base hits (18) since his streak began back on April 24.
