If you want to sign Dwight Howard, you’re going to have to pay up.

The free agent center, who turned down a $23.2 million player option to remain with the Houston Rockets, is hoping for a deal that averages at least $24 million per year, a source told ESPN’s Calvin Watkins early Friday morning.

While that might seem like a lot of money for Howard at this point in his career, he could argue that it’s fair market value, considering what other players already have signed for this offseason.

Thanks to the increasing salary cap, center Timofey Mozgov reportedly signed a four-year, $64 million deal Friday morning, which is good news for Howard as he seeks an even bigger contract.

Howard reportedly is set to meet with four teams, including the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics remain the favorites to land him.
