If we’re lucky, some future Major League Baseball players will one day reminisce about the wettest home run derby in history.
The Northwoods League on Monday held its home run derby on the shores of Lake Michigan. The city of Kenosha, Mich., hosted the event in which players blasted balls into the lake, much to the delight of onlookers.
Instead of holding its home run derby at Simmons Field, the Kenosha Kingfish re-drew the dimensions of their home field using buoy lines.
“The greater Kenosha community has truly embraced our team and deserves a special event like this,” Kingfish general manager Jake McGhee said in a statement, according to CBS. “We always want Kingfish fans to expect the unexpected and the Home Run Derby at the Harbor is just that. We are thrilled to bring this type of entertainment to Downtown Kenosha.”
The Northwoods League, an 18-team summer competition, features some of the best college players in the country.
