FOXBORO, Mass. — Matt Light played a pivotal role in New England Patriots offensive drives during his tenure, which include three Super Bowl victories. The former offensive lineman has never been part of a drive like this, though.

Light is set to serve as the honorary pace car driver at Sunday’s Bad Boy Off Road 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Light played with the Patriots all 11 years of his career, and considering he’s stepped away from competition, kicking off a NASCAR race is a way for the 38-year-old to get an adrenaline rush.

NESN Fuel’s Rachel Holt caught up with Light before the Patriots’ game against the Houston Texans on Thursday.

Light becomes the second athlete on a New England sports team to lead the field to green this year, joining Boston Bruins newcomer Tim Schaller, who drove the pace car in the Auto Lotto 200.
