C.J. Anderson Injury: Broncos Running Back Reportedly Done For Season … Or Is He?

The Denver Broncos might (or might not) be without their No. 1 running back for the rest of the season. Depends who you ask.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Broncos running back C.J. Anderson is telling those close to him that his season is over after suffering a knee injury in Denver’s win Monday night against the Houston Texans.

However, it took all of five minutes for that report to be refuted — by Anderson himself, in a tweet he eventually deleted.

Anderson is having a decent season, coincidentally having the best game of his season Monday night. Anderson rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on just 16 carries, giving him 437 yards on 110 carries through seven games.

The 25-year-old has yet to play a full season, appearing in just five games as a rookie and missing one game in each of his last two seasons. Anderson reportedly won’t play in the Broncos’ Week 8 divisional matchup against the San Diego Chargers, but it’s clear there’s uncertainty beyond that.

If Anderson is lost for the season, the Broncos likely will turn to rookie Devontae Booker. He’s been pretty effective in limited action, and he was good coming off the bench Monday night, rushing for 83 yards on 17 carries while scoring a touchdown.
