"Bad judgment."

That could be the understatement of decade.

Former Giants wideout Plaxico Burress said "bad judgment" was the reason his gun wasn't in a holster the night he shot himself in the leg at a Manhattan night club.

In a television interview set to air Tuesday night on ESPN, former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress said that he didn't know he had shot himself until he noticed blood on his pants and shoes. He also stated  that the nightclub security staff knew he had a gun on him.

"I take two or three steps and like my pants are wet," Burress said in the interview according to The Associated Press. "I had some Chuck Taylor's [Converse sneakers] and I looked down and the top of my shoe is red."

When he saw the blood, he turned to fellow Giants teammate Antonio Pierce and asked him to take him to the hospital.

"And he was like 'Why?" Burress said. "I said, I just think I shot myself, and he was like 'Noooo!'"

Burress said that he fired the gun accidentally when he missed a step while walking up a flight of stairs and when he went to grab the gun, he hit the trigger.

"My finger hit, like, right on the trigger," he said. "What are the odds on that happening?"
