Beginning Wednesday night, all Red Sox game broadcasts will return to WEEI-AM 850 in the Boston market.

WEEI aired all games from 1995 to 2006, before the games shifted to 680 WRKO. WEEI still aired games on Wednesday nights and during midweek afternoon games.

“We have a tremendously close partnership with the Red Sox, and are very excited to bring them back to WEEI,” Jason Wolfe, Entercom New England’s VP of AM programming, said in a statement. “This move will add consistency to our lineup, whereby all of our sports assets will be consolidated in the same place."

Outside of Boston, the games will air on local WEEI sports radio network stations.

According to a 2006 Boston Globe article, the games shifted to WRKO to boost ratings for the station at night, with WEEI keeping the day games to avoid interrupting WRKO's daytime programming. The two stations are both operated by Entercom Communications Corp.
