There have been times in Boston when the Red Sox' lineup was a sure thing every day. Those days seem like distant history now, as the ever-changing, amorphous Red Sox lineup looks different from game to game.

Tuesday night's order is no exception, with Mike Lowell on the bench to start the game. Kevin Youkilis will start at third base, while Casey Kotchman starts at first base and bats eighth.

After being given Monday off, David Ortiz returns as the DH, batting fifth. Jason Varitek, who struggled on Monday with an 0-for-4 performance, won't start on Tuesday, with Victor Martinez catching Clay Buchholz.

The complete lineup, along with each player's history against Baltimore's rookie starter David Hernandez, is listed below:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, 3-for-5 with a walk
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B, 1-for-6 with a home run
3. Victor Martinez, C, 0-for-3 with one strikeout
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B, 2-for-5 with a homer and a walk

7. J.D. Drew, RF, 1-for-3

On the bench, Lowell and Rocco Baldelli have never faced Hernandez, while Varitek is 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
