Broncos' Correll Buckhalter Could Miss Sunday's Game Against Patriots The Patriots may already have an advantage in Sunday's matchup against the Broncos.

According to Yahoo Sports, Denver running back Correll Buckhalter was held out of practice on Wednesday and may miss this weekend's game against New England after suffering a sprained ankle against the Cowboys last week. During that game, he gained 55 yards on five receptions and 37 yards on six carries.

This season, Buckhalter leads the Broncos with 267 yards on 37 carries, an average of 7.2 yards.

If Buckhalter cannot go on Sunday, the Broncos will be forced to turn to rookie Knowshon Moreno — who has accumulated 249 yards thus far in 2009 — plus LaMont Jordan and Peyton Hills. In four games this year, Jordan has rushed 17 times for 50 yards for an average of 2.9 yards per carry. Hills has not really been a factor to this point, rushing just four times for five yards.

As a rookie with the Eagles in 2001, Buckhalter rushed for a career-high 586 yards in 15 games. He has come close to that mark just once — during his second season in Philadelphia — but barring injury, he looks to be able to eclipse that mark in 2009.
